Mallard at Dunkeld

I watched the Osprey nests (webcams) at Abernethy (Loch Garten) and Dunkeld (Loch of the Lowes). Between them, six eggs were laid, three fledged and started their migration but only two arrived at their destination. Once the Ospreys left the webcams changed to show feeders at both areas. Both areas host the usual assortment of birds, Great, Blue, Coal and Crested Tits, Chaffinches, Robins, Blackbirds etc.

At Dunkeld I have also seen some deer and a fox. There has also been a Jay on the feeder. Usually in the background Mallard Ducks can be seen waddling around. The loch isn't too far away and if the webcam zooms out it can be seen. One of the strangest sights was a Mallard on the feeding table. There has also been a pheasant on the table. The video abov shows the Mallard. I have one of the female Pheasant on the table that I may post a t a later date.Dunkeld has two webcams that are illuminated at night for the Pine Martens.

Webcams at Abernethy and Dunkeld are well worth a visit, there is alway something going on. Give them a go. In March the Ospreys will be back for some more compulsive viewing and dramas.
