Mallard Ducklings

I have seen a number of broods of Mallard Ducks this year. The first broods I saw were on Tuesday 21/4/09. That day I saw three broods, two with five ducklings and one with eleven ducklings. Since then I have seen another with four ducklings, another with eleven and one with nine. I expect to see more broods over the next few weeks, hopefully getting some photographs as the ducklings grow. The pic on the left was the first brood I saw this year. The second pic is of the second brood which I saw about ten minutes later. This brood had eleven ducklings although not all are in the pic. I don't know how many of these duckling will survive. There are foxes and other predators around so I think life for these littles fellows won't be at all easy.
