Chestnut Trees

This is a picture of two Chestnut Trees in the grounds of the Hospital where I work. Unfortunately I don't have one of them before. I don't know the exact reason for cutting the branches back, rumour has it that chestnuts were falling on people. There is some damage on the one in the foreground, maybe there is a bit of disease or wood rotting. Anyway, this picture was taken a week before the rest was chopped down, the Chestnut Trees are no longer. Don't know how old they are. I have been working the Hospital for going on thirty nine years and they were mature trees then. Reckon they could be over one hundred years old.

I thought mature trees like that Jake would have had protection orders on them. When you think how long it takes for them to grow it is a sin really
